Bill Abel "On Exhibit in D.C."
A group show entitled "3 Wise Guys" is currently showing at the Georgetown Optician Gallery near Dupont Circle at 1710 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. The show features the photographic, conte crayon drawings, acrylics, and watercolors by the following four Falls Church artists: Shaun Van Steyn, Kevin Mellema, Donna Byrne, and Bill Abel, respectively. In addition, Brigitte Le of Reston, Virginia, entered a large and stylish photographic image depicted with thousands of shell pieces of various sizes encased in resin.
The February 1st opening was well attended as consumption of wine, cheese, and all things edible continued late into the evening. This exhibit is Bill’s first (and hopefully not his last!) in D.C. The art will remain on exhibit for two months. Bill has 5 paintings in the show and three are part of his Albert Einstein series.

Mural Project As part of the
summer school session at a local elementary school, Bill taught an
art enrichment program to rising 3rd and 4th
graders. He worked with small groups each day for a limited amount
of time and over a 3 week period. During that time the children
practiced basic perspective and painting techniques to make there
mural appear 3-dimensional.
Each day the progress was very noticeable to teachers, staff, and
parents passing by the mural project. This made for a very positive
and fun learning experience for all involved. In the end the
beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia scene said it all!
Bill would gladly consider proposals for future mural projects
with children and/or commissions for solo mural paintings.

Local Vistas
As a newcomer to Falls Church, Virginia in 2004, Bill was immediately
struck by the charm, history, and strong sense of community that makes
the city a very special place to live.
By October of the following year Bill had a solo exhibit entitled:
Falls Church Vistas - featuring new watercolors of local scenes. The
exhibit was his first in the area and took place at the Broad Street
Tavern (formally Broad Street Grill). Below are some of the paintings
included in this exhibit and now available as prints and note cards at
Art for Sale!
